Long time no update! What I've been baking...

I haven't been here in a while - but that's a good thing! I've been baking cupcakes!

I've done another birthday party, this time the theme was sock monkey. So cute.

I made the toppers myself, and I think they turned out pretty great!

Here's the next thing I did - a Bridal Shower. The theme was purple, white and bling. The flavors are Purple Velvet with White Chocolate Buttercream and Vanilla with Vanilla Buttercream, tinted dark purple. They looked great!

For Easter, being a cupcake maker, I had to make Easter-themed cupcakes. My inlaws had already requested Peanut Butter Cup cupcakes, but I wanted to make something new. So I tried a Cadburry Egg cupcake... and boy, was it good.

The center was a mini Cadburry Egg, and the top was a vanilla buttercream, I frosted to look like an egg. People were in love, hah! They turned out tasting WAY better than I had expected.

I love when that happens. ;)

I also got a new phone case! It, of course, has a cupcake on it:

And I googled around and found a promo code, so I got $5 off. Makes it extra sweet!

Last but not least, we had a 30 hour famine fundraiser at church. The teens in the youth group were raising money for children in Africa who have little or nothing to eat. They went 30 hours without eating, and at the end, we cooked up African themed food, and of course, cupcakes.

They are zebra cakes (white and chocolate vanilla cake layered in the cups, to create a zebra cake) with jungle grass, and chocolate jungle animal suckers in the tops. The kids raved, and it was for a good cause!

French Toast & a third time customer!

New flavor! It's a French Toast cupcake, with a Maple glaze, topped with Maple buttercream & bacon sprinkles!

I also had a third time customer! That's a good sign. :)

A new flavor... Thin Mint!

I'm not a Thin Mint fan. There, I said it. I don't like mint chocolate chip ice cream, either. All that stuff reminds me of toothpaste! Bleck.

However, being a baker, I'm all about pleasing others... so without further ado, I present to you, the Thin Mint Cupcake:

Chocolate Thin Mint cake with Mint Buttercream, topped with Thin Mint crumbles and a Junior Mint.. because it needed a topper. ;)

Another sale and another birthday!

I had an order for 20 peanut butter cup cupcakes for my friend Meagan's husbands birthday.. They are still everyone's favorite!

Since we were going to a birthday party that night for our friend Luther, I made cupcakes for him too. The peanut butter cup and I made a batch of Cookies & Cream, because.. those are everyones other favorite. And they are my favorite, haha.

Becky's Birthday - and a new flavor!

Last weekend was my friend Becky's birthday party. As her present, I made her PB cup and Strawberries & Cream cupcakes. Everyone knows about the PB cup, but these Strawberry ones are.. amazing.

Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes with homemade whip cream filling, topped with Strawberry Buttercream and a fresh strawberry slice. Yum.

The filling was purple, lol, because that's Becky's favorite color. Hence the liners and sprinkles. :)

Cupcakes for my Sami...

I have this friend, Kristi, and her daughter Sami. Adorable people, really. So Kristi and I decided a long while ago that because her and her fam (husband, daughter & son) don't have any family in Ohio, that I would adopt them. So I have. LOL. Sami is under the weather right now, but her cure seems to be cupcakes.

She wanted Cookies and Cream ones. I wasn't a fan of the chocolate ones, so I used my Vanilla Butter Cake recipe, and chopped up some Oreo's and threw those in. I put a double stuff Oreo on the bottom and filled them 2/3'rds with batter, and baked them. SO much tastier. Oreo Buttercream on top, with a mini Oreo. Adorable and just what the doctor ordered!

A motorcycle birthday..

One of Shawn's employees, shes adorable, anyways.. One of them ordered 20 PB cup, 10 vanilla & 10 chocolate for her son's birthday. On the vanilla and chocolate, we decided to do teeny chocolate motorcycles... I had never molded chocolate before, but I'm pretty good at "that kind of stuff" (kwim?) and I made them the night before. I was SO happy, they turned out great! And the birthday boy was happy too, because he loved his cupcakes!

Cupcakes for the Kings..

The King's are these amazing people who go to our church. Really, really amazing. The husband is the world's most awesome mechanic (Really - ask around!), and the wife is one of the most generous people I've ever met. They have ordered from me twice now... and have overpaid me twice. REALLY, STOP. I take my car in for oil changes and whatnot, and I bring him cupcakes. Because he deserves them. :)

Happy Birthday Pam - York Peppermint Patty Cupcakes!

I've known my friend Pam since middle school. That's a long time, even though I just turned 30, lol. These were ordered by her dear husband, who we also went to school with (aw!).

York Peppermint Patty Cupcakes: Chocolate cupcakes with a York Peppermint Patty inside, with Peppermint Buttercream and a milk chocolate ganache glaze:

Seriously?
I'm not a pepperming person, YUCK,
but these looked delicious.
So I had a 1/4
of one. And
they were pretty good for baking with things that
I don't like!
LOL.  ;)

My first customer orders again!

A long while ago.. okay, like early January, lol.. before I sold any cupcakes, I made some for a guy I went to high scool with. He was hosting a fundraiser for AIDS research and asked me to make some cupcakes for the desert auction. I guess this was technically my first real sale, but.. it wasn't full price because it was for chairty. I just charged him for the ingriedients.

Here's those first cupcakes:

And here's his second order, for his college graduation! (Congrats again!!)

He ordered 50. 25 Vanilla with Vanilla and 25 Chocolate with Chocolate. Easy peasy, and super delicious!

Kristen's Birthday, January 2011

I'm an only child (don't get me started, lol) but I have alot of cousins. Only a choice few live close, and my closest is my cousin Kristen. I asked her what kind she wanted for her 24th birthday, and being her - just like everyone else, lol, she picked PB cup!

I dyed the Peanut Butter Buttercream... pink. You think it's freaking awesome, don't lie. ;)

Snickerdoodle Cupcakes, January 2012

This, ladies and gentlemens, was my first official order. I was pumped, lol.

Snickerdoodle cupcakes (OMG!) with Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cheese frosting, with cinnamon and sugar dusting.

Winter 2011 - my birthday!! & Christmas!!!

Awesomely enough, my birthday is December 11th. REALLY AWESOME, it is. At least I think so, lol.

I made some cupcakes for Shawn (that's the husband, incase you haven't been paying attention) to take to work for his employees... because I'm awesome like that.

Vanilla Butter Cake with Vanilla Buttercream. With festive-type non-religious "winter" decorations! YEY! lol.

Gingerbread cupcakes with Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cheese frosting. I'm not a gingerbread-house-making-gal, nor was I a gingerbread fan, but... sweet baby Jesus, these cupcakes are DELISH.

Smore's Cupcakes and more Vanilla cupcakes... Smore's cupcakes consist of Chocolate Cupcakes with a marshmallow filling, with a marshmallow buttercream on top. With a graham cracker and a mini marshmellow as decoration. So cute. SO good.

And... guess what time it is?! It's my BIRTHDAY!!!

So I made cupcakes. (Like you were expecting something else?!)

Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcakes with a Reese's Peanut Butter cup inside, topped with Peanut Butter Buttercream and a mini Reese's... This is everyone's favorite. ;)

See inside? Isn't that cool?

Thanksgiving, 2011

Yes, I made them. The famous (infamous?) Turkey Cupcakes.

I think this is when "people" really started to take me seriously, lol. Before it seemed as though I was in a phase, or something.. and then, after this is was all 'Oh! She's the one that makes those cupcakes I was telling you about!!' ..know what I mean? lol.

They are Vanilla Butter Cake cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream, with... turkey's on top. ;)

Random cupcakes, haha, fall 2011

I make cupcakes randomly sometimes. For people at church, church functions, wakes, to take into work... Things like that. Here's some pics!

Vanilla Butter Cake with Milk Chocolate Buttercream:

Cookies & Cream, chocolate - Chocolate cupcake with a double stuff Oreo bottom and Oreo pieces, with a whip cream filling, topped with Oreo Buttercream and a mini Oreo.

Halloween 2011

We usually have St. Patricks Day and Halloween parties. Every year, it seems. Last year, I made cupcakes for them. I made standard pb-cup and these little beauties...

Yes, its bleeding! It's a Dark Chocolate cupcake with White Chocolate Buttercream tinted "flesh" (literally what the bottle said, LOL) with a chocolate "knife" and sugar-syrup blood.

Yes, I have a cupcake tattoo... October 2011

So, as I'm sure you don't know, I have several tattoos. Nothing like, on the side of my face or anything, but.. here and there. I use them to mark life events, or to remind me of certain things.

Here's my cupcake, very shortly after it was finished:

It's on my ankle, its about the size of a 50 cent piece. I LOVE IT. :)

Clambake, September 2011

Every year some friends of ours have a clambake. I knew I wanted to make cupcakes to take to it, along with some rockin' lasagna, but I didn't know what I'd put on top. Clams, obviously, lol... I googled around, as I often do, and I came up with little white chocolate clams & little white-chocolate-tinted-red lobsters!

Vanilla Butter Cake with Vanilla Buttercream and white chocolate lobsters/clams.

Romano Reunion, August 2011

My maternal side of the family is Italian. Really, really Italian. Every year we have a family reunion the first weekend in August. We make our own pasta, and the food is endless.

Last year I made Cookies & Cream cupcakes with a chocolate ganache filling, with homemade whip cream cookies and cream frosting, with an Oreo dipped in chocolate to look like an Italian flag on top.

I made a lot, lol.

Shawn's 32nd Birthday, April 2011!

What husband wouldn't want Cookie Monster Cupcakes for his... 32nd birthday? LOL.

Chocolate chip cookie cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream tinted blue, with homemade Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies in CM's mouth!

Halloween, 2010

Here's my first venture into the cute-cupcake-world... for Halloween 2010 I made Mummys, Vampires, Jack-o-Lanterns and Eyeballs!

Welcome! I'm Katie, your resident cupcake maker. I'll be posting my cupcake work here for all to see... Good and bad, lol.

A little about me: I'm 30 (freshly!), married for 3.5 years, have 3 cats and my dear husband has a dog. I work full time for a utility company and have my little cupcake business on the side, both jobs I love. And? I love cupcakes. They are adorable, and are just the right amount of cake, unless you're my Dad, lol. I'm not a sweets person, thankfully, so them sitting around my house doesn't mean they end up on my hips, haha.

I'm going to upload some cupcake pics-of-the-past and then from here on out I can keep us all up to date on my current cupcake happenings. I have orders I fill nearly every weekend, and sometimes during the week. I guess I'll start at the beginning of my cupcake journey, and work to present. I've been doing "this" for about a year, and I like it more each time I do it.

Thanks for reading, and lets see some cupcakes!! :)
